Leandro Paredes and Paulo Dybala will have new coaches: coach Daniele De Rossi was fired by Roma after a poor start in Serie A, where he only picked up three points in four games. The sudden departure of the former midfielder was striking, especially because during his time as a player he became one of the biggest idols of the team from the Italian capital and had begun to manage at the club of his loves last season after the departure of the Portuguese José Mourinho.
His replacement will be Croatian Ivan Juric, who coached Torino in the last three seasons, and will take charge of the team until the end of the season, with the option to extend his contract for another year. The Croatian coach arrived in the capital to close the deal with the Friedkin family, owners of Roma, who flew to the Italian capital on Monday to discuss the dismissal of De Rossi, which was made official a short while earlier.
De Rossi, who had a brief spell at Boca at the end of his career, had started off in very good form at Roma, as he managed to qualify the team for the group stage of the current Europa League and, last season, he had led them to the semi-finals of said continental competition, where they fell to Bayer Leverkusen of Germany. This was his second experience as a coach, as he also managed SPAL in Serie B in the 2022/23 season.
De Rossi was linked to Roma for much of his playing career, having played there between 2001 and 2019, winning two Coppa Italia titles (2007 and 2008) and the 2007 Italian Super Cup. The former midfielder had a rather peculiar end to his career, as during his final months as a professional he played for Boca, where he won the 2019/20 Primera División championship.
His cycle at Roma ended after a weak start to the current season, where they are sixteenth with only three points in four games.
