We met actor Moon Sang-min (24), who plays the third-generation chaebol Joo-won in the drama ‘Cinderella at 2 AM’ currently airing on Channel A, and Shin Hyun-bin (38), who plays the real-life Cinderella Yoon-seo, at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 3rd. The drama is a romantic comedy about the twists and turns of Yoon-seo, a realist who loves Joo-won but decides to break up to protect herself, and Joo-won, who constantly clings to her so as not to break up with her. It is based on a webtoon and web novel of the same name.

Shin Hyun-bin, who debuted in 2010 and is known as an actress who can change her face, is taking on a classic romantic comedy for the first time. She plays a character with a bold side that says, “I reject the prince on a white horse,” and a soft gaze that arouses a protective instinct. She said, “When I was offered the role, I thought the setting of ‘Cinderella who refuses to become Cinderella’ was interesting. I thought I could give viewers new fun by slightly twisting the familiar cliché.”

Moon Sang-min, who previously appeared in the drama ‘Wedding Impossible’ as a younger chaebol, shows off deeper eyes and more experienced plotting. In order to improve his ability as a romantic comedy lead, he studied by watching videos of his senior at his agency and ‘romantic comedy master’ Park Seo-joon. He said, “In order to portray a younger man who is both cute and powerful, I worked out by working out, which I usually don’t like, and worked on my eye acting,” and laughed, saying, “The director said, ‘You have eyes that seem to have a story. ‘”

Shin Hyun-bin studied the role, even thinking about the detailed gaze treatment. The ‘Kung-Jak’ where Yoon-Seo quickly orders a bottle of soju at the soft tofu stew restaurant that Joo-Won took her to is the charm of the drama. Although it is said that “the atmosphere on the set itself was cheerful,” the two did not show perfect compatibility from the first meeting. The two, who played Yoon-Seo, a team leader who got promoted quickly, and Joo-Won, who disguised himself as a new employee, actually have a 14-year age gap. When Shin Hyun-Bin said, “At first, Sang-Min had a hard time because he couldn’t make eye contact at all,” Moon Sang-Min said, “I was embarrassed at first because I liked the drama ‘Argon’ that my older sister appeared in. I shortened the distance by asking him to buy me food.”

The age gap may be noticeable, but Shin Hyun-bin’s consideration and Moon Sang-min’s ‘old man charm’ filled the gap. Shin Hyun-bin smiled, saying, “I was a bit puzzled when I heard the casting news. However, Sang-min has a warm personality and enjoys old songs like ‘Sanulrim’, so we quickly became close.” Moon Sang-min said, “I’m a cute youngest who has never missed a family gathering since I was little,” and “The acting advice my older sister gave me as a senior was a great help in building my character.”

The 10-part series now has 5 to 10 episodes left. The two agreed that the appearance of actor Lee Hyun-woo, who plays Sung-min, is a key point to watch going forward.
