Romanian Prime ‌Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced that he will not attend the closing ceremony of the Olympics after the organizers stripped Romanian gymnast Ana Maria Barbosa of her bronze medal in ‍floor exercises.

As reported by Day.Az, Ciolacu cited‌ the unfair treatment of the Romanian gymnasts as the reason for his decision. ‍The controversy arose after American Jordan Chiles was ⁢awarded the bronze ⁢medal originally given to Ana Barbosu, the Romanian all-around champion.

Initially,⁣ Barbosu secured third place ‌in the floor exercises, but her position was later overturned following an appeal filed by the US team. This resulted in Chiles receiving the bronze medal and Barbosu dropping to fourth place. The ‍Romanian team’s other member, Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, moved up one place to fifth ⁢after the reshuffle.

Ciolacu expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the Romanian gymnasts were treated and made a public statement‍ calling the situation “unfair.”
