The most romantic there is: Marc Gasol closed the circle tonight (Sunday) when he promoted his team Girona to the Spanish first division after a 60:66 victory over Estudiantes in the Final Four of the Second Division.
As you may recall, instead of retiring or ending his career at Barcelona, Gasol decided in November to go and try to help the team he re-established in 2014 (in fact he is the owner / president of the club beyond being a player).
The last time Girona played in the first division was in 2008, which was Gasol’s last season on the team. The group then disbanded due to financial problems and Gasol re-established it.
Today Gasol completed the task with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks in the win over Estudiantes. Since joining the team Gasol has dominated the second Spanish league as he led his team to 22 wins in 28 games averaging 14.8 points and 8.6 rebounds.
