Scans indicated an issue in his joint, a development that echoes a previous setback when the star underwent surgery to insert a screw into his left front leg. a statement from the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) read on Wednesday. “Romantic Warrior’s connections, in consultation with the club’s veterinarians, have decided to retire Romantic Warrior from racing following further detailed diagnostic imaging and assessment of his front leg at the club’s state-of-the-art veterinary hospital.”

He conquered major events in Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates, earning the distinction of becoming the first Hong Kong-trained horse to win in four different jurisdictions. Following this observation period, he will be transitioned to his retirement home with the assistance of the club’s RESTART Racehorse Aftercare Programme, which involves a holistic approach to horse aftercare following the completion of racing careers.
