The Ferrovie dello Stato Group has decided to extend the Rome-Pompei route for the visit to the excavations, inaugurated on 16 July, also in 2024. “The FS Group’s decision is based on the important numbers of the Rome-Pompei Frecciarossa, born from the collaboration with the Ministry of Culture – explained the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano in a note – the data testifies to the great success of an initiative in which we have believed from the beginning. We are serious people and we do things gradually, after an initial experimental phase we made the connection weekly and the facts proved us right”, added the minister. The Ministry of Culture has released the numbers of the Rome-Pompeii service: over three thousand passengers have chosen the Frecciarossa to visit the excavations of Pompeii, with an average of more than 300 travelers every Sunday, on the Rome Termini-Naples Centrale-Pompeii route and vice versa. Over a thousand reservations have been registered for October, including today’s sold out. “Given the excellent results, the connection has been confirmed by Trenitalia also for 2024 and will be carried out every Sunday, with extraordinary trips even on public holidays, such as 1 November and 8 December. This service is part of the initiatives to enhance Italian heritage and excellence by the FS Group and MiC, with the aim of encouraging the development of cultural tourism by promoting the use of the train, the sustainable means par excellence”, concluded Sangiuliano .
