No World Cup for the Barcelona defender. The Uruguayan finally decided to have adductor surgery this week.
Ronald Araujo was injured in the friendly against Iran on Friday and suffers from the adductor of the right leg. According to Catalan media, the 23-year-old defender has listened to the advice of Barca’s medical staff and will go through surgery, in order to avoid any type of relapse.
On Twitter, Barca announced that “Ronald Araujo will undergo surgery on Wednesday for the avulsion of the adductor tendon in his right thigh. The operation will be performed by Dr. Lasse Lempainen, under the supervision of the Club’s medical staff, in Turku, Finland.Araujo will be out for at least two months. He will therefore be absent from the World Cup, while he is a starter in the defense of Uruguay.
