After receiving the Middle East Best Player award at the Globe Soccer Awards 2024 held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 28th (Korean time), Ronaldo left a comment comparing the Saudi league and the French league.
According to the British media ‘Daily Mail’, Ronaldo said, “Of course the Saudi league is better than the French league. In France, there is only Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). “Try running at 38 degrees, 39 degrees, and 40 degrees (in Saudi Arabia),” he said.
Ronaldo said in the past, “To be honest, I don’t think the Saudi league is inferior to the French league. “France only has two or three outstanding teams, but Saudi Arabia is competitive overall,” he claimed.
Ligue 1 countered by using Ronaldo’s rival, Lionel Messi (Inter Miami).
Ligue 1 shared a photo of Messi at the time of winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on social networking service (SNS) ‘X (old Twitter)’ and added, “Messi playing at 38 degrees.”
It was a post mocking Ronaldo for failing to win the World Cup.
