/ The “FourFourTwo” magazine, which specializes in football news, excluded the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo from the list of the 100 best players in the world.
As the current year 2023 draws to a close, the magazine compiled a list of the most influential players of the year, but it did not include Cristiano Ronaldo, the striker for the Saudi Al-Nasr club, according to the “Erem News” website.
Bruno Fernandes, Gabriel Martinelli, James Maddison, Virgil van Dijk and Son Heung-min were included in the top 100, but five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo was absent.
Despite scoring 34 goals and providing 12 assists in 41 games for Al Nassr since joining the club on a free transfer last January, Ronaldo was not included in the list of the best player in 2023.
Argentine star Lionel Messi, the striker for the American Inter Miami team and Ronaldo’s traditional rival, came in sixth place after his success with Argentina in winning the World Cup last December.
Messi joined Inter Miami last summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, and has since scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 14 games.
Several Manchester City stars were also named in the list of the world’s 100 best players, including John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Rodri.
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka was ranked 11th, while his teammate Declan Rice was ranked 20th.
Vinicius Junior, Antoine Griezmann and Mohamed Salah were named among the ten best players in the world.
England and Bayern Munich star Harry Kane came in third place, behind his teammate Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid star.
Bellingham, 20, moved to Real Madrid for £115m from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Bellingham is currently leading the La Liga Golden Boot race with 13 goals in 15 games.
Manchester City star Erling Haaland is in first place, ahead of Bellingham, then Harry Kane in third place, and Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe came in fourth place.
