Ronny Deila Flies in from UAE to Support Daughters in Historic Championship Final

by Laura Richards – Editor-in-Chief

For the first time, both daughters of Ronny Deila are in a championship final. On Sunday evening, Norway will face Denmark in the fight for the European Championship gold.

It didn’t take long before dad booked tickets and set off on a flight from the Emirates.

On Saturday, his UAE Pro League club Al Wahda FC played a match, and just hours before the European Championship final, Deila is in Vienna.

– It worked out perfectly. The match ended at 10 p.m. The flight left at 2:50 a.m. We arrived here at 6 this morning. It was a bit exhausting; I’m a little tired now.

The time difference from Abu Dhabi to European time is three hours.

– Was this planned, or was it a bit spontaneous?

– It was a bit spontaneous. I thought there was no way I could travel. But I started looking online as they were getting closer to the final. It worked out perfectly, direct flight and all that.

– When you have two girls in the final, you have to show up!

Thale Rushfeldt Deila (24) has participated in three championships before this current European Championship. She has been both a European and an Olympic champion with the Norwegian handball girls.

Twin sister Live is participating in a championship for the first time.

– I am very nervous right now. On Friday, it was absolutely terrible, and today will probably be even worse, says dad Deila.

Both have received a lot of praise during the championship, especially Thale. The Odense player has taken on a larger role on the field and gained more trust from Thorir Hergeirsson. The 24-year-old has scored 46 goals in eight matches.

She was also selected for the All-Star team alongside Stine Oftedal Dahmke and Nora Mørk. See video below!
