The subsidy for rooftop solar projects in Puduwai state has been increased from Rs.14,588 to Rs.18 thousand per kilo watt.

In this regard, a press release issued by the Puduwai Power Monitoring Engineer’s Office on Saturday said:

The Puduwai State Government has set a target to accelerate the solar electrification project on rooftops of all government buildings and houses.

In this regard, a campaign will be carried out on behalf of the power department. Residents of the state can set up a power plant with small scale solar panels on their rooftops. Up to 3 kilowatts, you can get subsidy of Rs.18 thousand per kilowatt.

Surplus electricity generated by the solar power plant for self-consumption can be sold to the Puduwa Power Company.

‘Subsidy is being provided directly to the consumers through the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Central Government. Those who want to install roof top solar power plant can apply online.

Nationally registered solar power plant vendors and founders can set up power plant at low cost using quality, technically approved solar panels, inverters and meters.

The subsidy for setting up solar power plant will be paid into the consumer’s bank account.

100 square feet of unshaded roof is required to set up one kilowatt solar power plant. A properly maintained solar power plant has a lifespan of 25 years. As the amount spent by the consumer to set up the rooftop power plant is recovered in 5 years, the electricity generated in the 6th year becomes free.

This project will help reduce electricity costs and make Puducherry a greener state. Therefore, electricity consumers can benefit by setting up solar power plants at their homes, according to the press release.
