Roommate’s Tip Led Police to Arrest Suspects in Jocelyn Nungaray Murder: Report

The roommate of the Hispanics accused in the murder of the minor Jocelyn Nungaray in Texas was the one who reported them to the authorities after seeing some security images in which the immigrants could be seen.

Two days after the body of the 12-year-old girl was found in a stream in Houston, the roommate saw surveillance video on the news that showed Johan José Martínez-Rangel and Franklin José Peña Ramos next to the victim, according to a report. Houston Chronicle report.

The newspaper report suggests the roommate texted a relative saying he believed he was sitting next to Nungaray’s murderers.

It was the message that led the Police to arrest the two, according to the arrest warrant cited by the newspaper.

The New York Post review identifies the witness as Yohecfredder Rodríguez.

Rodríguez noticed his roommate’s resemblance to the men in the images when the three were watching television in the apartment on June 18, two days after the murder.

Authorities say Martínez-Rangel, 22, and Peña Ramos, 26, convinced the teenager to walk to a bridge where they stripped her of her clothes and assaulted her for about two hours.

Rodríguez testified that he knew the defendants by the pseudonyms “Gordo” and “Cousin Gordo.”

According to the Hispanic, he moved in with them a day before, after meeting them while they were immigrating to Mexico, and then they met again in the middle of the construction work in Houston.

When he realized the duo might be the one the authorities were looking for, the witness said he was scared, not knowing what to do, since he didn’t want Martínez-Rangel and Peña Ramos to note the recognition.

Rodríguez sent a photo of Martínez-Rangel and Peña Ramos to the Ojos Locos bar the night Jocelyn was murdered, an image he later deleted from his cell phone.

On June 16, Rodríguez picked up Martínez-Rangel and Peña Ramos and brought them to the business.

According to Rodríguez’s version, he left the place without them around 10 pm

The next morning, Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, realized her daughter was missing.
