Roquiam: Back to the tragic story of Bobby Darin who passed away at just 37 years old

by time news

Bobby Darin was one of the big stars in the pop and rock’n’roll scene in the late fifties and early 60s: a well-oiled hit machine that conquered the charts with hits like “Splish Splash”, “Dream Lover”, “Multipication”, “Beyond The Sea”, “Mack The Knife”, “Things” and more that established his status as a superstar.

Darin was also a talented actor and starred in a variety of Hollywood films when during the filming of his movie “Come September” (1961) he met who became his wife, actress Sandra Di. The two were the sparkling couple in the swamp until their divorce in 1967.

But behind the glow lurked a tragic story: at the height of his success, Darin discovered that whoever thought she was his mother was actually his grandmother and that whoever thought she was his sister was actually his mother. He did not know his biological father except those who thought his father was actually his grandfather. Also, when he was born, he was diagnosed with a rare disease that caused doctors to determine that he would not be able to cross the age of 16.

Darin, who wanted to devour the world of entertainment, wanted to suffice as much as possible because he knew that his time was limited to the age of 37, the age at which he died in 1973, had left its mark on American and world culture forever.

In this episode of “Rockwiam” music researcher Dudi Fetimer returns to his story, his great hits and the tragedy that hovered in all his accomplishments.
