At the Vostochny cosmodrome, tests have begun on the Marker robotic security platform designed to patrol, intercept intruders and combat drones. This was reported in the press service of “Roscosmos”.

Now, within the framework of the Marker project, five platforms have been developed: two on a wheeled chassis and three tracked. Engineers are testing the possibility of autonomous movement of both single platforms and platforms in a group.

“The following technologies are being developed: autonomous patrolling of designated routes for protecting objects of ground space infrastructure; identification of violators of the security perimeter, its identification and interception; countering terrorist acts, combating UAVs, ”the message says.

According to the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin, such platforms are planned to be used both for the protection of cosmodromes and other important infrastructure facilities. At the same time, the security robot was not reported to have any lethal or traumatic weapons.

The tests are being carried out with the participation of the Okhrana Science and Technology Center of the Roscosmos State Corporation, the Android Technology Company and the Advanced Research Fund. Roskosmos noted that the technical groundwork obtained during the development of the robot is planned to be used for the study and development of the Moon and the planets of the Solar System.

Prior to that, in 2019, Roskosmos launched the Skybot F-850 anthropomorphic robot, better known as FEDOR, to the International Space Station (ISS). FEDOR was originally conceived as a rescue robot capable of opening a door, working with a drill, shooting a pistol, getting in, driving a car and even an ATV. During his stay at the station, he learned to perform only simple operations for the astronauts in copying mode. At the same time, when working with it, a number of technical problems and failures arose.
