The Voronezh Design Bureau of Khimavtomatika (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) will temporarily stop using oxygen for fire tests. This was announced on Telegram by the general director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin.

“Taking into account the growing demand for medical oxygen for the treatment of patients, today it was decided to suspend firing tests of rocket engines at the stands of the Voronezh Design Bureau of Khimavtomatika until the end of the month,” Rogozin said on October 10.

According to him, only this one enterprise transfers to medical institutions up to 33 tons of oxygen daily.

On October 8, the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, called the situation in the region’s medicine difficult and spoke about a number of measures. So, he instructed to remove large oxygen concentrators from the cancer center under construction in the center of Voronezh.

“We are transferring the concentrators to Elektronika and the regional hospital at the 9th km. The builders are already starting to erect the foundations there. By the end of next week, the concentrators will supply the first oxygen to the beds, ordered to allocate 40 million rubles for this. He also spoke with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and achieved the allocation of 200 additional mobile concentrators to the region, ”Gusev said.

KB Khimavtomatiki develops and tests rocket engines for Soyuz and Angara launch vehicles. The enterprise includes a workshop for the production of oxygen, which is used in engines as an oxidizing agent.

In the Voronezh region, over the past day, 630 cases of coronavirus were detected. The regional authorities decided to transfer schoolchildren to distant schools from October 12, while companies were advised to allow Voronezh parents to work remotely. Public catering was forbidden to serve guests after 21 hours.
