An Asian elephant pointed out his trunk on Saturday morning in Pairi Daiza, announces the park on Sunday. It is already the fifth little of Farina and the 16th individual of the flock of Brugelette.
The birth took place at 9:21 am on Saturday morning. “As soon as the little one arrives, the females present pushed powerful barrisses, well -known social behavior among elephants who collectively mark the arrival of a new member,” said Pairi Daiza in a press release. “Farina’s intervention was immediate: as elephant mothers often do, she gave slight legs on the side of her newborn to stimulate her lungs and help her breathe. This instinctive gesture recalls that of the doctors who, among humans, help a newborn in taking her first inspiration by giving her a little tape on the buttocks.”
