The acting Minister of Innovation and Growth Rosen Karadimov stated that he has the ambition to prepare the new strategy for the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) in the next two months. In the program “Sunday 150” on BNR, he explained that he had talked about it with the acting prime minister.
Karadimov said that the BBR strategy expired at the end of 2023. The preparation of the new one should be done through the Council of Ministers and through a working group in which deputy ministers from all ministries will participate.
The development of this strategy will enable this cabinet, without exceeding its constitutional powers and horizons, to set policy priorities. “Because when you say that the bank will have to serve the military-industrial complex as strategic for the country, you know what you are saying – you are unblocking a huge sector of the Bulgarian economy”, he gave an example and noted that commercial banks do not allow working with the complex because of its own internal rules.
Karadimov said he was invited by acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev in his capacity as chairman of the BBR supervisory board, which is one of the main structures in the Ministry of Innovation and Growth. According to him, in the last year and a half, the BBR has become one of the most transparent institutions in Bulgaria. The acting minister noted that he was able to form an advisory board to the bank, pointing out that in addition to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, the BDB supports public policies and the reduction of regional disparities.
My understanding is that the minister must organize the machine to work, he must create an environment, he cannot be an advertising person or a commercial traveler from this point of view, commented Karadimov when asked how he will manage the ministry. And he announced that he had canceled international commitments, except for urgent ones. I am also canceling all protocol appearances in the country, he said, quoted by BTA. And he added that he would delegate these duties to his deputy ministers.
