Ole Sæter has been one of Rosenborg’s major profiles in recent years.
He may now end up in Molde.
NRK has information that the blue-clad team wants to bring the RBK striker to the city of roses, but it is still uncertain whether the Trøndelag club wants to negotiate for the striker and whether Sæter himself is positive about such a transfer.
It was Nettavisen that first reported the news.
Ole Sæter told NRK that he has only heard about the rumor but does not have more information about the situation.
– I made it clear quite early to my agent that I don’t need information about things that come up. It doesn’t help me in my everyday life, and there are mostly everyday matters, and then I need to stay focused.
If the clubs were to come to an agreement, would you be open to going to the arch-rival Molde?
– That is very difficult to consider.
– Not interested
Rosenborg’s head coach, Alfred Johansson, does not want to comment further on the matter.
If a player were to move from Rosenborg to Molde, what is your immediate thought on that?
– It’s irrelevant; it is a hypothesis. I am not interested. Everyone knows what the rivalry is between the two clubs. And I understand the question, but it is the wrong focus for me right now.
Fierce rivals
If the transfer were to happen, it would create shockwaves.
Molde and Rosenborg are major rivals in Norwegian football, and the matches between the teams have often been referred to as hate matches.
In other words, if Sæter ends up in Molde, it will likely be an unpopular transfer among RBK supporters.
NRK has tried to get a comment from the sports director at RBK, Micke Dorsin, but he has not responded. NRK has also requested a comment from the director at Molde, Øystein Neerland.
– What??
The news has certainly led sports commentator Jan Petter Saltvedt to be taken aback.
– What?? It sounds like an April Fool’s joke.
The commentator believes it would be a good transfer for Molde.
– That Molde wants him is understandable, and it would likely make both them and Sæter better in the short term.
– But there are entirely different considerations and feelings at play here, and I really refuse to believe that this can happen.
