Roskomnadzor sent a letter to the American company Meta Platforms (which owns the Facebook social network) demanding that all restrictions be immediately removed from the official page of the delegation of the Russian Federation at the talks in Vienna on military security and arms control, and to explain the reasons for their introduction. This was announced by the press service of the department on Sunday, January 16.

The department believes that these actions of the administration of the social network Facebook violate “the key principles of the free flow of information and unhindered access to it.” Roskomnadzor called the incident “an act of censorship.”

The delegation’s page was blocked for “prohibited content”

Earlier, the head of the Russian delegation, Konstantin Gavrilov, said that the page of the Russian delegation was blocked on January 14 due to the publication of “forbidden content.” According to him, cited by the TASS agency, representatives of the delegation reposted on their page on the social network only statements by the Russian leadership and the Russian Foreign Ministry. The press service of the social network at the time of publication did not comment on the incident.

Earlier it became known that on January 13 the official Twitter page of the delegation was blocked. Gavrilov called such actions of the social network “naked censorship.” During the blocking of the page on Twitter, the delegation posted all the information on Facebook.
