The measures that are now being introduced to stop the increase in the incidence of coronavirus may be enough if the population follows prevention and vaccinates, says Natalya Pshenichnaya, deputy director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on “non-working days” from October 30 to November 7, while the regions may establish additional non-working days before or after this deadline. In some regions, such decisions have already been made, for example, in Moscow and the Moscow region, the period from October 28 to November 7 will be non-working.

Pshenichnaya noted that if the population is actively vaccinated and diligently adhere to preventive measures, then the introduced time limits will be enough to slow down the spread of coronavirus.

“It is absolutely impossible to relax now,” Pshenichnaya said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Over the past day, 37,141 cases of COVID-19 in 85 regions have been confirmed in Russia. The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic has exceeded 8.1 million.
