Rospotrebnadzor saw no reason to abolish the mask regime in Russia

The mask mode will be canceled only after the Russians stop becoming infected with the coronavirus, now there are no grounds for lifting the restrictions, said Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor, in a comment to TASS.

“No, now there is no (grounds for canceling the mask regime). This can only be when we stop contracting the new coronavirus infection. The main tool we have is the vaccine. We must use it, then this moment will not be far off, ”she said.

On October 28 last year, against the background of the second wave of coronavirus in Russia, Rospotrebnadzor introduced a universal mask regime in the country. People were obliged to wear masks in places of mass stay, in transport, in elevators and in parking lots.

In January of this year, mass vaccination against coronavirus started in Russia. At the moment, five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona, KoviVak, Sputnik Light and EpiVacCorona-N. According to the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova, 46.5 million Russians were vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine, 39.8 million people were vaccinated with the two components.
