Rotary Clubs on the Lower Main: More donations, less stiffness

The nine Rotary clubs on the Lower Main, their current presidents and their most important projects (according to the clubs themselves, in alphabetical order).

Rotary Club (RC) Alzenau, President Hans-Jürgen Scholz

Most important projects: Annual duck race, around 30,000 euros in donations, this year to the hospice association, Erich Kästner elementary school, world shop. Ukraine vigil in Alzenau with other service clubs as a sign of peace, every Monday on the market square. On-site support for refugees.

RC Aschaffenburg, President Michael Bargl

Projects: Youth and technology for twelve years at 25 elementary schools on the Lower Main, playful understanding of technology for 3,500 elementary school children is supported with 40,000 euros per year. Schools in Africa: After a school in Madagascar (2020), the RC AB is currently building a primary school in Malawi, which will go into operation in September 2023; Financial volume: around 150,000 euros.

RC Aschaffenburg-Schönbusch, President Hansjörg Schemann

Projects: Supporting single parents with children who have disabilities for almost 20 years; larger community action at least once a year. Aid to Ukraine: Minibus for regular transport co-financed with aids.

RC Miltenberg, President Kai Grundmann

Projects: Promotion of regional culture, young musicians and artists; Conservation of monuments, documentation of wayside shrines, “Watterbacher Haus” forest museum; restoration of the chapel in Breitenbach; Construction of a massive, freely accessible knight’s table on the Wildenburg.

RC Obernburg, President Volker Hofmann

Projects: So far 14 benefit concerts “Symphonie in Blech”, donations and sponsorship income for current projects; Advancement prize and youth advancement prize: awarded for the eighth time this year to make role models visible and to support people, clubs and groups on the Lower Main who are committed to others, 10,000 euros per year.

RC Rhein-Main International, President: Alexander Kadow

Projects: Rotary E-Run as a platform for runners worldwide to collect donations through running routes of their choice, for example for educational offers in Goa/India, several thousand euros per year. Educational projects in Rhein-Main, e.g. B. Career evening at the TH Aschaffenburg.

RC Schöllkrippen-Kahlgrund, President Norbert Steigerwald

Projects: 13th golf charity tournament on May 13th with around 120 golfers, evening event with 150 guests, donations of several 10,000 euros per year. Promotion of youth work in clubs: Projects from the Kahlgrund are funded, announcement for 2023 on May 13: 20,000 euros.

Rotaract Club Aschaffenburg, President Leonhard Tim Rehfeldt

Projects: Since 2018 Christmas campaign “Radiant Children’s Eyes” for children from families in need, together with the Marilies-Schleicher-Foundation and the Social Service of Catholic Women.

Inner Wheel Club Aschaffenburg, Presidents Monika Glund-Krohne and Angela Wengerter

Projects: Herring dinner every year on Ash Wednesday for around 120 participants, with a guest speaker; Proceeds from 2023 to Grenzlos eV. New event planned: Charity picnic in July in the courtyard of the old forest office. (comu)
