Maccabi Tel Aviv will go up tonight (Wednesday) to the rematch of the quarter-finals of the State Cup against Maccabi Petah Tikva knowing that only a crash on a historic scale will lead to its elimination. The Yellows have a 0:4 advantage from the match in Netanya which they hosted, therefore Aitor Karanka will use this match in Moshava to perform a wide rotation, and give a chance to several players who have not received many minutes recently.
This means that Rarsh Ilya will probably make his debut in the lineup. The Romanian striker arrived at the yellow club with the buzzer of the winter window and so far played 126 minutes spread over two games and in the 0:2 victory over Nes Ziona Section he did not even come off the bench towards the end of the game. For him this will be an opportunity to prove his ability when Maccabi Tel Aviv thinks this is an excellent opportunity to see for the last straight in the league whether there are players who may deserve more credit.
Another player who is expected to receive the credit in the lineup after a very long time is Dan Beaton. The midfielder has only started one game so far this season and that too was in the European game in the Toto Cup against Maccabi Netanya. Recently, he was included in Karanka’s squad and the last time he walked on the grass was against Maccabi Pat in the first quarter game exactly a month ago.
In the center of the defense Shahar Piven is expected to start alongside Nir Biton and Joris Van Overeem will also play for the first time since the 0:4 loss against Maccabi Pat, so he came off the bench in the 60th minute. The wing will be manned by Dor Turgeman and it seems that Karanka will play in a 4-3 formation -3, something he only did against Maccabi Pet.
