Royal Navy assists 234 candidates for irregular migration (military source)

Rabat – Elements of the Royal Navy responsible for coastal surveillance intercepted, on Wednesday, off the coast of the fishing village “Roc Chico” in the south of the Kingdom, almost 200 km southwest of the city of Dakhla, two boats carrying 234 candidates for irregular migration, all of Senegalese nationality, including 3 women and 2 minors in addition to a corpse, we learned from a military source.

The two boats in question had set sail on September 25 and 27, 2023, respectively from the coasts of Dakar and Diogo in Senegal, bound for the Canary Islands, the same source said.

The rescued people received the necessary care before being handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, said the same source, adding that the body was handed over to the civil protection to transfer it to the Morgue of the Hassan II Hospital in Dakhla.
