Mr. Saint-Prot emphasized the significance of the autonomy plan presented by the kingdom as a definitive settlement of the ongoing dispute over the Moroccan Sahara. He expressed confidence in the international legal framework’s recognition of Morocco’s legitimate rights in the region.
The King also highlighted that over 7.7 billion euros have been allocated to the socio-economic and human development of the region since the launch of the development program seven years ago.
In this context, the Sovereign stressed the crucial role of the private sector in driving this development, encouraging increased productive investment in the provinces and prioritizing projects with a social impact.
The King also emphasized the importance of the Moroccan Plan, which aims to defend Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. He described it as an “indispensable link between Africa and Morocco,” strengthening the country’s African identity on cultural, human, and economic levels.
The Director General of the OEG further noted the King’s emphasis on the strategic cooperation between Morocco and Africa, citing the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project as an example.
The Sovereign concluded by urging Moroccans to remain vigilant and uphold the spirit of the Green March, which symbolizes national unity, development, and Africa’s significance in Morocco’s identity.
