At the “Coronation Concert” for King Charles III. Hollywood star Tom Cruise and the animal cartoon character “Winnie-the-Pooh” will also play a role.

The announcement on Saturday night raised expectations that the event on the evening of May 7 at Windsor Castle could have a scene similar to that at the jubilee concert for Queen Elizabeth II in June 2022. At that time, the queen had a lot in mind met the acclaimed video skit featuring the animated Paddington bear for tea. The coronation of Charles and his wife Queen Camilla will take place at Westminster Abbey in London on May 6th.

“With the stunning backdrop of Windsor Castle, it will be an evening of unforgettable moments for Their Majesties and all the people of the UK to enjoy,” said BBC Executive Director Kate Phillips. The public broadcaster will broadcast the concert live.

20,000 guests are expected

The organizers also announced performances by pop star Tom Jones, actress Joan Collins, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, musician Steve Winwood and pianist Lang Lang, among other celebrities. Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor is to give a short, “uplifting” speech. It had previously been announced that Take That, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Andrea Bocelli, among others, would take part. There will also be a special “coronation choir” at the concert with around 20,000 guests.

The 74-year-old Winwood said he could remember a little of the coronation of Elizabeth II 70 years ago. It is a great honor that he can now take part in the coronation ceremonies for Charles and Camilla.
