The ladies, like the juniors, covered a distance of 31.3 kilometers from Zolder and Hassel. The most experienced participant was our Dana Rožlapa, who recovered perfectly and got in excellent athletic shape after a serious injury sustained in a fall during training. Shortly before the important start, coach Jāņa Mūsiņa won the sixth place in a prestigious solo race in Switzerland.
Dana had a very solid ride at the European Championships. The cyclist from Talsie completed the distance in 41 minutes and 19 seconds. Dana’s average speed on the fast track is 45.34 kilometers per hour. This made it possible to win the respectable 12th place in the competition of 27 participants.
The Belgian Lotte Kopecky became the champion. The current World Champion completed the course 2 minutes and 22 seconds faster than Dana in the group race. The second place went to Elena Van Dijk from the Netherlands (+00:00:43). Meanwhile, Austrian Kristina Schweinberger (+00:01:02) finished TOP3.
On Friday, among Latvian cyclists, the athletes of the U23 group – Kristiāns Belohvoščiks and Gusts Lapiņš – will compete in the group race.
