Ajmer/Jaipur : The credibility of Rajasthan Public Service Commission has been questioned due to repeated incidents of paper leak in the last few years. After the arrest of two RPSC members Babulal Katara and Ramu Ram Raika, the functioning of RPSC has come under question. During the previous government, the then Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader Rajendra Rathore had first raised the issue of dissolving RPSC. Later, the then Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot also talked about dissolving RPSC. However, after the change of government, the representatives of the BJP government gave the same argument which the previous government used to give. That is, RPSC is a constitutional institution. It is not easy to dissolve it. Now the state government is trying to improve RPSC by increasing the number of members on the lines of Haryana Public Service Commission.

Efforts will be made for improvement on the lines of Haryana
To improve the functioning of RPSC, Bhajan Lal government is in the mood to try to reform it on the lines of Haryana Public Service Commission. In the year 2008, the then government of Haryana had increased the number of members of Haryana Public Service Commission from 8 to 12. However, in the year 2012, the number of members was reduced to 6 and after three years, the number of members was again increased to 8. Last month, the state government had requested the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Vasudev Devnani to study the reform efforts made by the Haryana government. After the study done by Devnani, the report has been sent to the state government. In such a situation, now the state government is going to make some big changes in Rajasthan Public Service Commission including increasing the number of members.

Bhajanlal government will try to bring a bill in the house and bring a change
After studying the changes made in the Haryana Public Service Commission by the Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, he has sent his report to the state government. Now the state government can soon present a bill in the assembly to make changes in the RPSC. Through the bill, the government will propose amendments in the service conditions of the RPSC and then after the passage of this bill, important changes can be made in the commission. According to sources, along with increasing the number of members in the RPSC, the government can also change the basis of selection. That is, instead of making political appointments, qualification can be decided. Efforts can be made to improve the RPSC by appointing qualified members.
Plan to keep existing members away from confidential work
There is a chairman and 7 members in RPSC. The post of chairman is currently vacant. In such a situation, senior member Kailash Meena is in charge of the chairman. One post of member is vacant and one member (Babulal Katara) is suspended. The current five members include Dr. Manju Sharma, Sangeeta Arya, Kailash Meena, Colonel Kesari Singh and Mohammad Ayub Khan. Now by increasing the number of members, the state government can remove the current members from confidential work. That is, by giving the responsibility of administrative work of RPSC to the current members, the newly appointed members can be given the responsibility of confidential work.
