Chennai: The Government of the School Education Department has released Rs. 1 crore for the chess competitions for government school students in connection with the 44th Chess Olympiad.

Steps have been taken to conduct round, district and state level chess tournaments and to discuss the winning students with international chess players.
Competitions will be held to create awareness among the students about the game of chess.
