NEW DELHI: “We have got an investment of Rs 2 lakh crore in solar power and related sectors,” Uttar Pradesh State Energy Minister AK Sharma said.

The state government is hosting a three-day Global Investors Conference from February 10-12 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

An exhibition and rally is being held in New Delhi. UP State Energy Minister AK Sharma who visited the exhibition yesterday said:

We plan to implement 22 GW green energy projects in UP by 2027. We have already received a commitment of two lakh crore rupees for investment in solar power and related sectors.

Rooftop solar power projects along with ground water projects in agricultural sectors will also drive green energy development in the state.

Apart from this, we also plan to set up ultra mega solar parks, solar systems and model solar cities. UP Government provides subsidy for solar power generation and electricity storage.

UP Government is keen to set up oxygen production plants and bio-coal, bio-diesel, bio-ethanol plants from agricultural waste, sugar factory waste, municipal waste.

Investors in such schemes are given incentives like stamp duty exemption for land and electricity tariff exemption for 10 years.

As there are immense business opportunities in the green energy sector, the returns for investors are higher than expected.
