Rs 4.5 crore fraud by claiming to buy iridium: Police nets 10 people

Sivagangai: In Manamadurai, Sivagangai district, a man who had taken a loan of 4.5 crores and claimed to buy iridium committed suicide by hanging himself due to debt problems. His relatives are protesting against the road, claiming that the police department is responsible for his death.

Rajiv Gandhi hails from Ananda Valli Nagar, Manamadurai. He is running a supermarket in the same areas of Manamadurai, Sivagangai and Paramakkudy. He is familiar with Kaur Mohandas from Potalkalam village near Bodi, Theni district. In it he said that he had iridium and was going to sell it to Rajiv Gandhi.

Following this, Rajiv Gandhi borrowed Rs 4.5 crore from his relatives and friends and gave that money to Kaur Mohan Das. Meanwhile, Rajiv Gandhi along with his friends kidnapped Kaur Mohandas from her hometown and demanded money.

Kaur Mohan Das’s wife has lodged a complaint with the police. It is said that while the Theni district police registered a case and rescued Kaur Mohandas, Rajiv Gandhi was in distress. After this, Rajiv Gandhi tried to commit suicide. He died while being treated at the Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital.

In this situation, the relatives of Sivaganga protested near the Ambedkar statue after filing a complaint with the Sivaganga crime branch and demanding the recovery of the lost money. Police led by ATSP Anbu reached the spot and held peace talks with the relatives.

A case should be registered against all those involved. They also demanded a refund of 4.5 crores. After the police promised to take action, everyone dispersed.
