Amid severe economic crisis, the Sri Lankan government has reduced the tax on sanitary napkins for women.

Raw materials are imported from foreign countries for production of domestically manufactured sanitary napkins. In this case, the Sri Lankan government has taken steps to cancel the taxes imposed on five imported raw materials.

In addition, the government has decided to provide tax relief for imported sanitary napkins. Accordingly, the price of a pack of 10 domestically produced sanitary napkins will be reduced by Rs 50 to Rs 60. The maximum retail price per pack is Rs 260 to Rs 270. Through this, women who cannot afford sanitary products will be benefited.
