14.30 lakh rupees worth of counterfeit notes lying on the roadside near Vellore have been recovered. The Vellore North Police Department is investigating the matter.

A gang in a car dumped 500 rupee notes on the Vellore Konavatam Chennai National Highway this morning. Motorists and members of the public who saw the notes flying in the air competed to collect the notes. After getting information about this from the Vellore North Department, the police went to the spot and collected the scattered currency notes and also bought the currency notes that the public had taken. When it was brought to the police station and counted, it was found that there were 14 lakh 30 thousand rupee notes.

When the currency notes were checked, they were found to be fake notes taken by color xerox. Surveillance cameras in the area are being scrutinized to find out who the gang was who threw the fake notes. They are also collecting the details of the vehicles that arrived on the national highway this morning. Some of the public took away the currency notes that flew in the wind. A warning has been issued by the police that they should not use these currency notes.

Traders have also said that they should be aware while buying 500 rupee notes. While the police seized Rs 14.70 crore while transferring money from a car to a lorry near Pallikonda last night, today the incident of throwing fake notes on the national highway has again created a stir in Vellore.
