The meeting between them took place behind closed doors for more than an hour at a mosque in Delhi’s Kasturiba Gandhi Marg. Mohan Bhagwat was accompanied by senior Sangh workers Krishna Gopal, Ram Lal and Indresh Kumar. According to sources close to the RSS organization, issues such as hijab controversy, Gnanawabi, maintenance of inter-faith peace and harmony were discussed in the meeting.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief has been meeting Muslim clerical leaders for the past few days to strengthen religious harmony and improve internal relations, RSS campaigner Pramik Sunil Ambekar said. And this is part of the continuous normal Samvat process, he said. But Bhagwat met five Muslim leaders last month as well. At that time, there was a discussion about the prevailing atmosphere of harmony in the country.

Last Tuesday too, RSS chief Bhagwat met former Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi, former Lt Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung and several other Muslim leaders. Earlier, it was reported that the delegation that met the RSS leader at Udasin Ashram included Aligarh Muslim University’s former vice-chancellor Lt Gen (retd) Jamiruddin Shah, former MP Shahid Siddiqui and philanthropist Saeed Sherwani.
