Weekly monitoring of the Higher Institute of Health and the Ministry of Health

The decline in the weekly incidence of Covid-19 cases at the national level continues: 552 per 100,000 inhabitants (in the week from 18 to 24 February) against 672 per 100,000 inhabitants last week. The transmission index Rt also drops again: in the period 2 February – 15 February 2022, the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 0.73 (range 0.68 – 0.82), down from the previous week when it was 0.77 and below the epidemic threshold.

The pressure on hospitals in Italy also continues to decrease. The employment rate both in intensive care and in ordinary wards is confirmed to be decreasing. The employment rate in intensive care at 8.4% compared to 10.4%. The employment rate in medical areas nationwide at 18.5% (Ministry of Health daily survey as of February 24) compared to 22.2% as of February 17.

One Region classified at high risk and two Regions at moderate risk. The remaining 18 Regions / Autonomous Provinces are classified as low risk. Finally, 15 Regions / Autonomous Provinces report at least one single resilience alert and 3 report multiple resilience alerts.
