A worker was paralyzed when a 30-kilogram part of a piling machine’s hose fell on him during the construction of the CATL battery factory in Debrecen on Thursday, RTL Híradó reported. The man was taken to the emergency department with a spinal injury, several vertebrae were broken and he had to be operated on. According to the hospital, his condition is stable, but he developed paralysis, but to what extent and how permanently, they did not say.
The fact of the accident was confirmed by CATL. According to the company, there was no human error, the responsibility of the manufacturer of the defective part is being investigated, and all of their piling machines are being reviewed out of sequence.
