Tanja Szewczenko was seriously ill 30 years ago. Now the virus that “almost brought her to her knees” is active again – and she is receiving medical treatment.
Health concerns for Tanja Szewczenko. The former “Alles was zählt” actress is currently taking care of her husband Norman Jeschke. He had an operation on his knee at the beginning of the month and has been walking on crutches since then. But now the former figure skater has had to go to a clinic herself. What happened?
“After almost 30 years, a dormant virus has reactivated itself,” reveals Szewczenko, but assures her fans that she is “prepared” this time. In 1996, she was seriously ill and two neglected viral infections “almost brought her to her knees.” As she reports, she has been receiving treatment from a Munich doctor since then and is regularly checked and treated preventively. She does not mention exactly which type of virus it is.
“This time, the blood analysis has shown that, strictly speaking, one of my two old virus enemies is active again,” the former athlete said, adding the reason for her hospitalization to a photo showing her wired up in a hospital bed. However, it is nothing “that we cannot get under control again.”
As Szewczenko explains in her Instagram story, she is now to be helped with immunotherapy. This was successfully used on her in the 1990s. The therapy involves increasing the body’s own natural killer cells, which are intended to protect her body from the virus. It is not clear how her fans will react to her hospital stay. Tanja Szewczenko has turned off the comment function under her post and is therefore likely to have only received get-well wishes via direct message.
Since Szewczenko’s treatment takes a certain amount of time, she combines her therapy time with a trip to the mountains. She spontaneously booked a spa hotel in the Munich area for herself, her husband and her three children Jona, Leo and Luis and seems to commute between this and the clinic.
