Led for more than half an hour, New Zealand finally crushed Australia (38-7) this Saturday in Melbourne on the last day of the Rugby Championship, the tournament of nations in the southern hemisphere with the Argentina and South Africa. The last clash between the two teams, in November 2021, turned to the advantage of the French. The New Zealanders therefore have a revenge to take.
For Australia, optimism is not appropriate. The Wallabies also lost to South Africa and Argentina and are in poor form, with Eddie Jones in charge. Placed in Pool C with Wales, Fiji, Georgia and Portugal, the Australians should still make their way to the quarter-finals. But it becomes difficult to imagine them going further, as their level is so low.
