Created three years ago, the company Hector le Collector, based in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), will benefit from a great showcase this fall, during the Rugby World Cup, to promote its treatment and waste recovery.
It was selected to install its bio-waste collection bins around and in the stadiums, as well as in the fan zones and several restaurants and hotels that are partners of the sporting event.
Instead of being buried or incinerated, they will be recycled into biogas by methanisation and into fertilizers for agriculture.
“We launched the company after my personal experience, when I lived in an apartment and I had no solution for bio-waste despite my desire to sort, says Quentin Saieb, one of the two co-founders of Hector le collector. We then offered the employees the Hector kit, namely a wooden bucket for sorting in the kitchen and which they can empty into a compost bin at their company at their convenience. Our target is restaurants, businesses, food businesses and events. »

The Toulouse company registers 10 new customers each month and its participation in the Rugby World Cup should further boost its activity. It now works with 115 companies, including 80 restaurants.
To convince of the importance of recovering this waste, it launched a free test for all restaurateurs and companies wishing to measure their volume of waste.
Currently, the obligation to sort bio-waste at source only applies to companies and local authorities whose annual production exceeds 5 tonnes, but this minimum volume will be abolished from January 2024 and the entire population (companies, local authorities and households) will have to adopt a source sorting solution for bio-waste.
