For the players, the question obviously took a back seat, after the elimination of the French XV in the quarter-final of the World Cup, this Sunday against South Africa (28-29). But the Blues will perhaps realize it in the coming days: with this premature exit, they have also sat on a nice jackpot. To receive their bonuses, negotiated before the competition, they would have had to reach the final.

Poorly “budgeted”, according to the current management, during the time of the former office of the French Federation, the bonuses had been revised downwards at the beginning of September. An agreement was finally reached between the FFR and a group of executives: in the event of a final victory, each player in the group of 33 would have received 200,000 euros. A performance bonus, the amount of which has not been disclosed, would also have been paid to the players in the event of defeat in the final.

In total, the FFR could therefore have had to pay around 7.7 million euros, including attendance bonuses on the match sheet. On the other hand, nothing had been planned in the event of elimination in the semi-final or quarter, which meant a result far from the objectives set before the tournament. The Blues learned this the hard way.
