The head coach of Spartak Moscow, Rui Vitoria, decided to part with the football club by mutual agreement. This was announced on Wednesday, December 15, by the press service of the “red-whites”.

Along with Vitoria, Spartak will leave his assistants Arnaldo Teixeira, Sergio Botella, Luis Esteves and Walter Dias.

The message says that the club needs a “new vector” to improve its position in the Russian championship. “Spartak” went to the winter break in ninth place in the standings, having 23 points in the asset. “The need for changes forced the parties to search for a solution that would suit everyone and benefit Spartak,” the club noted.

The 51-year-old Portuguese took over Spartak in May this year. Under his leadership, the team could not qualify for the Champions League and ended up in the Europa League, where they reached the 1/8 finals from the first place in the group. The 51-year-old coach had a two-season contract.

The name of Vitoria’s successor has not been disclosed. On the eve of Sport Italia journalist Gianluigi Longari reported on Twitter that the place of Spartak’s head coach will be taken by Italian specialist Paolo Vanoli, who has long worked as Antonio Conte’s assistant at Chelsea and Inter, as well as in the Italian national team and the country’s youth national teams.
