Rumen Radev discussed the tension in the Middle East with the President of Egypt

The ongoing escalation of tension in the Middle East, which negatively affects the security and stability of neighboring regions, as well as the need for timely measures to de-escalate the conflict and end hostilities, were discussed today in a telephone conversation by the presidents of Bulgaria and Egypt, Rumen Radev and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. This was announced by the press office of the presidency.

The Bulgarian head of state highly appreciated Egypt’s role as a stabilizing factor in the region, as well as the country’s consistent actions to limit the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. In this regard, Rumen Radev noted Egypt’s efforts to resolve a number of humanitarian issues, including the release of the citizens of various countries taken hostage, among whom are still the Bulgarian citizens – captain and assistant captain of the ship “Galaxy Leader”. as well as those taken prisoner during the attack of “Hamas” against the State of Israel in October of this year.

During the conversation, President Radev also highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Egypt, as well as the aspiration of our country for their subsequent development and deepening in the economy, trade and energy. Rumen Radev confirmed his invitation to his Egyptian colleague Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to visit Bulgaria.
