The head of state Rumen Radev met today with the president of the International Biathlon Union Ole Dalin, who is visiting our country. The potential of Bulgaria to host the Youth Winter Olympic Games in 2028 was the focus of the conversation of “Dondukov” 2. The President highlighted the ambitions of the sports community in our country to organize the prestigious event, as prerequisites for this are the excellent natural conditions and sports infrastructure for which modern modernization is needed, this was announced by the press office of the presidency.
Rumen Radev emphasized that the effect of holding a sports event of a similar scale in Bulgaria will have a long-term effect, it will support the development of winter sports in our country, it will improve the training conditions for Bulgarian athletes and it will have a significant effect on the promotion of mass sports in the country. According to him, the promotion of Bulgaria’s candidacy will require joint work by the responsible institutions, the media and unwavering public support to achieve success.
Bulgaria occupies a leading place among the countries of the region in winter sports, it was emphasized during the meeting. This is a great advantage in promoting our country’s candidacy, and the investment in sports facilities is also beneficial for our neighbors. The President of the International Biathlon Union, Ole Dalin, welcomed the efforts and the stated willingness of Bulgaria to invest in its sports infrastructure and emphasized the organization’s support in this direction. He also pointed out that Bulgaria is among the countries for which the organization sees potential for the development of biathlon and declared readiness for cooperation and exchange of experience.
The chairman of the Bulgarian Biathlon Federation, Atanas Furnadjiev, also took part in the meeting.
