Rockstar Games Teases Possible Remaster of Red Dead Redemption

After the rocky release of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, Rockstar Games might have another remaster in the works. Speculations have arisen suggesting that the 2010 sensation, Red Dead Redemption, starring John Marston, could potentially be making a return.

Last month, the Korean rating board listed a new version of Red Dead Redemption, and this week, Rockstar Games rolled out a website update hinting at a possible remaster of the game. Alongside the update, a slightly modified logo was published, catching the attention of Rockstar Games enthusiasts.

Upon closer inspection of the logo, it was revealed that the trademark (TM) was replaced with ‘R’ for “registered”. Twitter user ‘Tez2’ pointed this out and shared the findings, sparking further excitement among fans. Additionally, the newly added “platform buttons” on the website, including the Switch, suggest that a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption might be on the horizon. However, it’s important to note that the platform buttons are still in the preview stage and may not indicate actual platform availability.

Nintendo’s current hardware is a potential candidate for a remaster of Red Dead Redemption, given that it offers a suitable platform for such a release. Furthermore, cloud releases and other options for older hardware are also possibilities.

Rumors about the return of Red Dead Redemption have been circulating for years, and previous clues within Red Dead Redemption 2 have fueled speculation. Reports from last July even mentioned a scrapped remaster of RDR after the release of the GTA Trilogy. However, the recent developments and website updates seem to indicate that something is indeed brewing.

If the rumored remaster does become a reality, the Nintendo Switch could have a shot at hosting the game, especially since it already received the GTA Trilogy remaster. Additionally, Nintendo fans were offered the opportunity to play L.A. Noire in 2017.

What are your thoughts? Would you be interested in a remastered version or even a basic port of Red Dead Redemption on the Nintendo Switch? Did you end up playing the GTA Trilogy on the Switch? Share your opinions in the comments below.
