jpnn.comJAKARTA – Candidate for General Chair of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PB PMII) Abdurrahman Wahid is determined to bring the organization to an intellectual thinking orientation and reject practices that only prioritize personal or certain group interests.
He expressed this when giving a speech at a discussion activity with Sahabat Heri, General Chairperson of PB PMII for 2005-2008.
“I am determined to build PMII into an organization that is entirely driven by enlightening ideas and thoughts, not by political or individual interests,” said Wahid in Jakarta, Tuesday (13/8).
He emphasized the need for effective leadership for intellectually oriented organizations, such as putting forward innovative ideas and a clear vision in responding to the challenges of the times.
“Only then can innovations be created from young people, especially from PMII cadres to accelerate the realization of the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
Wahid in his speech also emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for PMII members to contribute freely.
In addition, he continued, members also need to be reminded that organizational decisions and policies are taken based on deep thought and strong principles.
By emphasizing these values, Wahid hopes that PMII can become a driving force for positive change among students and society in general.
