From January 1, rural health workers can sell medicines, such a measure will help provide medicines to residents of villages that do not have pharmacies, the press service of the Ministry of Health said.

According to the legislation, doctors of outpatient clinics, feldsher-obstetric centers and general practice centers located in villages where there are no pharmacies will be able to dispense preferential medicines and sell drugs. Previously, only pharmacists could sell drugs.

The government has also made it easier to issue pharmaceutical licenses to such medical organizations. Health Minister Mikhail Murashko instructed to accelerate the licensing of outpatient clinics and FAPs under the new rules in order to quickly solve the problem of drug provision, added the Ministry of Health.

At the end of last year, the government added 22 new drugs to the List of Essential and Essential Medicines (VED) for 2022. Now there are 808 items on the list. The government recalled that the prices for drugs from vital and essential drugs are regulated by the state. These drugs are used to treat patients in hospitals under the compulsory medical insurance scheme. Also, such drugs are given free of charge to beneficiaries on a doctor’s prescription.
