Rush to vaccination, boom in bookings. Only 5% are against it

Time.news – The propensity to get vaccinated is increasing among Italians, with a growing share between December 2020 and June 2021, while at the same time the percentage of those against it decreases. It is the photograph taken in the research Response Covid-19, conducted by the State University of Milan and by Swg through interviews with a sample of the population before the words of Prime Minister Mario Draghi which gave a further push in favor of vaccination.

In detail, the willingness to get vaccinated appears to be constantly growing: in December, according to the previous survey, it was 60%, in March it was 80% and in June it reached 85%. Contracts to the vaccine are instead a minority, which has been further reduced: in December they were 12%, today they are only 5%, while the percentage of those who are not very willing to get vaccinated goes from about 10% in March to 6% in June.

The most likely to get vaccinated, the research continues, they are the elderly over 65 and young people in the 18-24 age group. The central age groups (25-54 years) are those in which there is a greater number of undecided or against the vaccine. More than 10% say they are little or not at all willing to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

Among the skeptics, the main concern is side effects, even if the number is decreasing. In December, around 16% of respondents were concerned about side effects, today 5%. On the other hand, few are opposed to vaccines in principle, only 3% of the adult population.

As for the theme of the mandatory nature of the vaccine, today more than 50% of Italians are in favor of this measure, while in December only 40%. The progress of the vaccination plan therefore seems to produce greater consensus for the mandatory nature of anti Covid-19 vaccines, given the positive effects on reducing infections. Most Italians have no doubts about the safety of the vaccine and trust the scientific community (over 60%).

“These data – comments Cristiano Vezzoni, author of the study – they are in stark contrast to the weight that is attributed to no-vax positions in the public debate “.
