Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the country’s main Russian intelligence agency, said Monday that the murder of Darya Dugina was “forged and perpetrated by the Ukrainian special services”, thereby formally accusing Ukraine of being behind the attack that killed the daughter of the nationalist ideologue, Alexander Dugin.

The FSB, in turn, added that the murder was carried out by a Ukrainian citizen who then left the country for Estonia.

According to Russian intelligence, the woman, whom he identified as Natalya Vovk, rented an apartment in the building where Dugina lived and followed her. Vovk and his daughter attended a nationalist festival that was also attended by Alexander Dugin and his daughter shortly before the attack.

The agency said that Vovk and her daughter left Russia for Estonia after Dugina’s murder, using a different vehicle license plate on their way out of the country.

Ukraine, for its part, has denied responsibility of the crime.
