Joint Russian-Chinese naval exercises “Maritime Interaction – 2024” have begun in the South China Sea.

As reported by Day.Az, this was reported by the Izvestia newspaper.

Russian and Chinese ships left the port of Zhanjiang and went to the South China Sea to practice the tasks of the active phase of the exercise. During the maneuvers, in which the PRC naval aviation will take part, reconnaissance and search for ships and submarines of a potential enemy will be conducted. Then, the ships of the Russian Federation and PRC will launch missile, artillery and rocket-bomb strikes on the detected targets of various types.

There will also be activities on air defense and anti-sabotage defense of ships on the open sea.

From the Russian side, the Pacific Fleet corvettes Gromkiy and Rezvyy are participating in the Maritime Interaction 2024 exercises.

Previously, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that the joint patrols of Russian and Chinese ships in the Pacific Ocean were not directed against any other countries.
