The Russian side and the EU held a meeting on the issue of mutual recognition of certificates of vaccination against coronavirus, the press service of the Ministry of Health said.

“The next working meeting in the virtual format of representatives of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the European Union took place,” the ministry said (quoted by RIA Novosti). The parties conduct expert consultations to agree on the main parameters of the mutual recognition of documents. The press service did not tell about other details of the meeting.

In September, the Ministry of Health sent the EU Delegation the documents that had been requested at the previous meeting. The ministry noted that the mutual recognition of vaccination certificates will remove obstacles to the movement of Russian citizens across the EU and vice versa.

The Russian Sputnik V vaccine has not yet been approved by the EU and WHO medical regulator. The latter suspended the approval process for the drug due to problems at one of its manufacturing plants. The EU regulator said that the manufacturer did not provide enough documents proving the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine. Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that WHO has questions about the documents, the organization has no complaints about the vaccine itself. According to the minister, the Russian side completed the missing papers and sent them to the organizations.
